Live Lightly
The ICAN Live Lightly Team aims to lower our community’s footprint by reducing, repurposing and reusing well before recycling.
We’ve held three successful Glass Jar Exchange Days and hope to set up a permanent exchange site for glass jars on Quadra.
We also organized a very successful Quadra Clean Up Day, and have campaigned to open an expanded Recycle BC Depot. The depot will open in 2024.
Live Lightly has hosted a number of workshops on topics including composting and recycling, with more on the way.
For information on upcoming workshops, go to the ICAN Event Page.
RECYCLING AND GARBAGE INFORMATION 2024
We do not have a recycling depot on Quadra Island (yet!), although it is in the works. Please
take this under consideration and separate your garbage and recycling. Quadra Island does
NOT have municipal garbage collection so if you are visiting Quadra, please take your garbage
off island to dispose of it – practice “bring it on, take it out”. Ask your rental hosts if they have
compost heaps you can add to and what can be composted.
